MENTORING
Designed for:
Finance Manager (experienced or new), Key Finance Staff
How does Mentoring Help?
The role of the Finance Manager/Financial Controller is a difficult one. There are greater requirements and reporting needed and this can be difficult to manage. If the Finance Manager leads a team, again there are daily challenges to navigate. Having been in senior finance roles for many years, I understand the pressures but also I have the ability to see areas where improvements can be made.
Finance Teams are often very busy teams...but are they busy doing the "right thing"? In my career I have often heard the phrase “But we have always done it this way” but when challenged as to the value or benefit of doing some tasks the response is often “I don’t know” or “not a lot of benefit”.
If your business has grown and one of your finance team is now the Finance Manager, it can be beneficial to have a mentor support them during this transition as they establish themselves.
Sometimes providing a “sounding board” is all that is needed, other times a more structured mentoring role is more beneficial.
How Much Time is Involved?
Effective mentoring can be achieved by coming to your office to support staff and provide some fresh ideas to achieve the required outcomes. I believe regular (weekly/monthly) meetings ensure the best results as issues are dealt with when they arise. I aim to be flexible to suit your individual needs.
